MIT OpenCourseWare –

MIT OpenCourseWare offers free lecture notes and exams for courses in almost every subject.  No registration is required for the site and each course is easy to download.  The most visited courses are in computer science, mathematics, and engineering.  The Sloan School of Management offers courses in Real Estate Finance, Entrepeneurship, and Investments.

University Of North Carolina MBA Program –

The University of North Carolina is the first top 20 MBA program to offer an online MBA program.  The Kenan-Flagler Business School will have an entering class of 19 students for their online program.  The Anderson School of Management at UCLA offers some online courses but they do not have a complete program.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has an extensive financial literacy resources directory.  The financial literacy resources directory has information and links for asset building progams, basic financial literacy, consumer protection, and housing.  The directory provides descriptions for each program as well as contact information.  The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency is an independent bureau of the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

MyMoney.Gov is a site created by 22 Federal entities and is geared towards improving financial literacy.  The site has tools for financial planning such as calculators, budgeting worksheets, and finance checklists.  The calculators are provided by many different agencies which include the Department of the Treasury, FDIC, Department of Education, and the Office of Personnel Management.

MBA Pay –

Bloomberg Businessweek has a recent article on MBA compensation.  The article discusses new research on MBA compensation from top business school programs.  The differences in pay between elite programs and lower ranked MBA’s can be substantial.  Over a 20 year career, Harvard MBA’s earned approximately $3.6 million in base pay and bonuses.  University of Buffalo graduates earned around $1.7 million over a 20 year career.  The research did not take into account stock options which would increase the difference between programs.
