E-Reader Price Cuts -

The iPad has driven down prices of e-readers that view the Apple product as competition.  Recently, Barnes & Noble lowered the price of Nook to $199  and a wifi only model to $149.  Almost immediately Amazon responded with a price cut on the Kindle bringing the price tag to $189.  It has been estimated that almost 6.6 million e-readers will be sold in America this year.

Checking Out Schools -

When you want to check out a prospective school there are a number of ways to do research.  Some of the best ways are to speak to the students and check out their facilities.  A visit to the dining hall and the student union was a top 5 suggestion in a recent US News article.  The article also suggested taking a tour of the community and sitting in on a class.  It might not be a bad idea to pay the gym a visit and talk to some students in that type of setting.  Spending a little time in the library on your visit would also be a good idea for a prospective student.  The gym and the library are two places on campus that students are likely to end up spending a great deal of time.

Congress To Tackle College Costs -

Republican Senator Mike Enzi has written an article on the need for Congress to help lower the costs of education.  The article appears in Roll Call and it does a good job of framing the problem at hand.  The Wyoming Senator is quick to point out that college costs since 1995 have risen at nearly triple the rate of inflation.  Roll Call is one of the best congressional news sources and frequently provides coverage of education related matters.
