Stanford Engineering Everywhere –

Stanford Engineering Everywhere is an initiative by the Stanford School of Engineering that offers courses free to students and educators.  There are courses available in Artificial Intelligence and Linear Systems and Optimization.  In addition, there is a three course Introduction to Computer Science which includes Programming Methodology, Programming Abstractions, and Programming Paradigms.  The software and system requirements for Stanford Engineering Everywhere courses is listed on their site.  Stanford Engineering Everywhere may add additional courses in Bioengineering and Nanotechnology.

MyMoney.Gov Calculators –

MyMoney.gov has financial information and tools from 20 Federal agencies and bureaus.  The MyMoney.gov site offers financial tools to calculate compound interest and savings bond values.  A few of the agencies providing financial calculators are the Department of the Treasury, Department of Education, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Office of Personnel Management.

Education article discusses six medical careers that do not require medical school.  The article provides information on the education required and the growth outlook for each career.  The growth rates for these careers are projected to be more than 20% from 2010 to 2020.  A few of the careers listed in the article are Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant, and Dental Hygenist

JumpStart 2012 Conference –

The JumpStart 2012 National Educator Conference will take place in Chicago from November 2nd to November 4th.  The JumpStart Coalition Conference is dedicated to personal finance education.  There will be workshops, tools, and resources for teaching personal finance.  The conference fee includes conference meals and two nights lodging.  The opening reception for the JumpStart Conference will be held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

States With Highest Job Creation –

CNBC has an article and slideshow on the top states for job creation in 2012.  The slideshow provides the number of net jobs created and a brief description of the economic climate in each state.  Technology and energy were driving forces for job creation in a few states.  Tech companies created jobs in Washington and California.  Energy created positions in Oklahoma and Texas.  A few more states that led in job creation were New York, New Jersey, and Florida.
